This morning March 26, 2009 Burgaw Rotary Club’s guest speaker was Rotarian Greg Buckner.  He spoke about the current state of our economy giving us comparisons of the past economic downfalls and how it relates to our current downfall. The Burgaw Rotary Club had as its special guest this morning, Detective Sgt. John Leatherwood.  Sgt. Leatherwood spoke about his role as the Domestic violence Investigator for the Pender County Sheriff’s Department. He was introduced by Rotarian Wayne Briley on left. Sgt. Leatherwood is on the right.

The Burgaw Rotary Club was honored to have as it guest speaker today 3/12/09 Mrs. Linda Collins of the Children’s Home Society of North Carolina.  She was introduced by Rotarian Mary Ann Briley.  Mrs. Collins spoke about child adoption procedures in North Carolina as well as the recent changes to the child adoption laws in North Carolina.(Collins left and Briley right in photo).

The Burgaw Rotary Club was honored to have as its guest this morning Barbara Lewis.  Mrs. Lewis was introduced by Rotarian Tyrone Brandyburg, Moore’s Creek Battleground Park Superintendent.  Mrs. Lewis gave a presentation on the importance of the Battle of Moore’s Creek Bridge and the Moore’s Creek Battleground Associations efforts to preserve this site.

The Burgaw Rotary club presentation for this week was given by Rotarian Terry Jankosky, Assistant Vice President of New Bridge Bank in Burgaw.  She spoke about her career in the Banking business and a passion of hers, Drag Car Racing. 

The program this morning at the weekly meeting of the Burgaw Rotary club was given by Marino Papazoglou, Director, Corporate Business Development with Titan America.  He gave a very informative program about the proposed Titan America Cement Plant in Castle Hayne.  He was assisted in the presentation by Bob Odom,  General Manager,Development and Sean Hurley,Business Development.  Pictured left to right Bob Odom, Marino Papazoglou, Sean Hurley.

On Thursday morning November 6, 2008 the Burgaw Rotary Club was honored to have as its guest speakers, Members of the Pender County Health Department Dental Clinic.  Drs. Holmes and Vasamsetti spoke with the group about the Pender County Dental Clinic and what programs it has for families in Pender County, especially the children. Burgaw Rotary Club was honored this morning as well to have two new members join our club. Burgaw Rotary Club was honored to have as its guest speaker on ThursdayOctober 30, 2008 Mr. Nathan Miller.  Nathan was introduced by his father,Rotarian Greg Miller.  Nathan is Life Scout with Boy Scount Troop 242 in Burgaw. He is working on his Eagle Scout project.  He is planning on honoring local veterans by placing a memorial honoring the veterans buried at the Burgaw cementary. The Veterans Park will be located in the Burgaw Cementary and include a granite memorial, 3 benches, a flag pole and landscaping.  (Nathan left and Father right)

On Thursday October 16th Burgaw Rotary Club was honored to have as its guest speaker, Mr. Josh Lee.  He was introduced by Rotarian Michael McWhorter. Burgaw Rotary Club was honored to have as its guest speaker on Thursday 10-9-08 Mr. Mitch Keel, CEO of Four County Electric Cooperative in Burgaw (left).  He was introduced by Rotarian Bill Marshburn (right).  Mr. Keel spoke about Four County Electric Cooperative Organization and Our Energy, Our Future.

On Thursday October 2, 2008 Burgaw Rotary Club was honored to have as its guest speaker Dr. Larry Dashow. He was introduced by Rotarian David Long. Dr. Dashow spoke about Breast and Colon cancer.  Dr. Dashow is a Surgeon who has an office in Burgaw.

This morning the Burgaw Rotary Club was honored to have as its guest speaker Distirct 7730 Rotary Governor, Lee Dixon.  He spoke with the club members about District and International projects for the coming year.

The Burgaw Rotary Club was honored to have as its guest this morning Senator R. C. Soles.  He was introduced by Rotarian Jimbo Robbins.  Senator Soles spoke to the Rotarians about the Short Session of the North Carolina General Assembly that just finished. He gave specific information on bills and laws that affected Pender County.
